On this week’s SBAM Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with Bill Ellis, owner of Innovative Computers and a VIP member of the Small Business Association in Michigan. As a technology solutions provider, he says he is seeing many customers moving, post-COVID,  to a hybrid work-from-home, work-in-the-office solution. “They're bringing people in for two to three days a week right now seeing how it lasts,” he says. “Some of them were talking about probably never coming back in on Fridays, because it gives [employees] a chance to cut out early when things are done because they don't have to travel.”

The Small Business Association of Michigan is the only statewide and state-based association that focuses solely on serving the needs of Michigan’s small business community. We have been successfully serving small businesses like yours in all 83 counties of Michigan since 1969. We’re located in Lansing, just one block from the Capitol.

Our mission is to help Michigan small businesses succeed by promoting entrepreneurship, leveraging buying power and engaging in political advocacy. When small businesses band together through the Small Business Association of Michigan, they achieve more than they could on their own.

Our 28,000+ members are as diverse as Michigan's economy. From accountants to appliance stores, manufacturers to medical, and restaurants to retailers, what unites the SBAM membership is the spirit of entrepreneurship…a spirit that drove you to start and continue to operate your own business because you believe you can do something better than anyone else is doing it!

On this week’s SBAM Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with Kim Bode, owner of integrated communications agency 8thirtyfour. The agency is a VIP member of the Small Business Association of Michigan and was recently recognized as a member of the 2021 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch. “Making sure that you spend time creating a plan, or being very intentional as it relates to culture and in ensuring that your employees know where the company is going, that's been huge,” she says.

On this week’s SBAM Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with Luke Barber of Barber Packaging Company. They are a VIP member of the Small Business Association of Michigan and were recently named a member of the 2021 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch. “COVID kind of accelerated a trend that we were already observing in the marketplace, which is that now manufacturers and distributors are shipping right to people's doorsteps,” he says. “We have to make the packaging so that it can transit anywhere in the world.”

On this week’s SBAM Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with Dichondra Johnson, owner of DRJ & Associates LLC, and a VIP member of the Small Business Association of Michigan. She helps her clients with growth, development and strategy. “The talent that you have can grow a business, it can sustain a business, it can change a business in the most complicated times, diverse times,” she says. “And I think we're learning right now, with the pandemic and the change of employment needs, that talent is not to be taken for granted.”

On this week’s SBAM Weekly Podcast, Michael Rogers talks with professional certified leadership coach Becki Fraser, owner of Focus for Growth. “My philosophy is that there is no need to really turn yourself into a pretzel of what everyone else says that you should be, or even your own internal vision,” she says. “In fact, it's more about unwinding the pretzel that you've already created and started to twist up.”
